Quran

Group A nourishes their connection with the Quran, and they’re active students trying to further their knowledge of Allah’s Book. They pick up the Quran, read the Quran, and understand there is no life without the Book of Allah. So on this path of truth they struggle, slip, and fall. It is common to view group A as elite. The chosen people of Allah who don’t make any mistakes—perfect Muslims. We project the insecurities shaytan dumped on us onto them. Around them, you feel terrible, a knot of anxiety unwinding quickly! You believe something is wrong with you, but not them. You think they are special, but not you. God chose them but rejected you.
The reality is group A are human beings that sin, their iman (faith) fluctuates, and they’re far from elites. When students of the Quran surround us, the shaytan whispers, “oh, look at these snobby religious people; they’re way ahead of you, don’t try catching up to them.” Those whispers fester within you until you get repulsed by group A instead of drawing near them for good influence in your life.

Students of Allah’s Book, are in training. They make errors unlearning all they accumulated from an ignorant life. The Quran is guidance for them, and Allah opened their eyes and hearts to the miracles of the Quran. They can’t get enough and are thrilled given a new opportunity in life—one where they work on their relationship with The Originator. The Quran has revived their once deceased hearts and they aspire never to return to such life.

Then we have group B.

Group B does not have a relationship with the Quran and is oblivious to their missing light. They’re blind and don’t even know it. Many want to draw closer to their Creator, and they promise themselves a tomorrow that isn’t guaranteed. The distance between their souls and the Quran continues to stretch, and they are weighed down by a dread they can’t shake. Many others fear the Quran. As if they know deep down in their hearts, their entire world will shatter if they pick up this Book. They are delaying a miracle that will guarantee a change in their lives because they don’t feel ready to abandon the “bliss” of ignorance. The Quran on the shelf collects dust; the guilt fades until Allah blesses us with a new month of Ramadan; a mercy to mankind. Empty promises are written and burned, continuing a draining trend.

The devil has you pinned where he wanted. “So you’re not even gonna try?”

It’s not about you. It’s not about your feelings or your defeatist self-talk. There is nothing wrong with you regardless of how often you entertain your drama cycle of worthlessness and shame. Maybe for once, stop indulging yourself. Constantly focusing on you, you, you.

Your thoughts, “I am  not pure enough for the Quran.”

Your shame, “I am too far gone.”

Your self-image, “I’m too dumb to understand it anyway.”

Stop focusing on your mood because it’ll never be right. Stop feeding your excuses.

Instead, make Dua to Allah S.W.T to help you strengthen your relationship with Him. He is the only one that can open doors for you the creation can never. Change the condition of your heart and choose to struggle towards the right path instead of aimlessly struggling in misery accumulating sin.

You were not created to worship yourself but to worship your Creator. It truly isn’t about you, and what a burden our Merciful Lord has lifted from us. The Quran is meant for you, exactly how you are now. And if you start shutting out shaytan’s whispers and you open the Light of the Quran, you’ll see that Allah is talking to you and waiting for you to come back to Him. Allah invites you to let go of loads on your shoulder.

Guess what?

Allah calls Himself The Most-Compassionate. The Most-Forgiving, The Most-Merciful.

You’ll see how Allah reassures His Prophets and the believers. You’ll hear the different tones Allah uses, the imagery Allah paints in the Quran. The persistent warnings Allah sends to the disbelievers, and the nations before us destroyed that prayed against themselves.

Whatever preconceived notion you have of the Quran is never accurate. If you approach the Quran thinking it’s fantastic—it’s far remarkable. If you approach the Quran thinking it’s doom, gloom, punishment here, hell everywhere, you cannot comprehend the mercy you’ll find leaving you trembling in awe of Ar-Rahman.

You have work to do either way. You’re either in group A, struggling, slipping, falling, laughing, growing, amazed, working on your relationship with the Quran. Or you are in group B caught in a nasty cycle of guilt from rejecting Allah’s miracle and being weighed down by your decision each day. Choose which work you want to do and join group C. Those that have had enough and decided to surrender to Allah S.W.T. They are the ones asking Allah to aid them out of a miserable rut and remove the shackles they placed on themselves. Working to free themselves from shaytan’s grip.
