Abāyo House is working on a humanitarian and social project called 'Create for a Cause. Write for Humanity.' This project brings together writers, poets, artists, and storytellers to collectively craft an anthology of heartfelt contributions, encompassing poetry, letters, essays, short stories, drawings, and photographs. These creative expressions are in support of and dedicated to Palestinians and the children of Palestine amidst the bombardment and genocide they are currently experiencing. All proceeds that come from this project will go directly to charities operating in Palestine.

Since October 7, Israeli’s genocide campaign killed over 8,500 people in Gaza including a distressing number of children which is over 3,500 lives just in the past three weeks. The Israeli occupying forces shut off critical services such as water, electricity, fuel, and internet cruelly severed from the 2.3 million people trapped in the besieged enclave of Gaza. Tragically, this brutal assault is not a recent development, but rather part of a decades-long history of brutality, with major human rights organizations labeling Israel as an apartheid state, responsible for the widespread abuse of Palestinian rights. To name a few, this includes the illegal occupation of Palestinian lands, the dispossession of homes, and the unjust incarceration of countless Palestinians, a significant portion of whom are children. It's important to remember that more than three-quarters of Palestinians living in Palestine were forcibly expelled and dispossessed in 1948 and continue to be denied the right to return to their ancestral homes.

In addition to the tragic loss of life and the displacement of countless Palestinians, there is an alarming media and online campaign perpetuating and supporting this ongoing genocide. Despite global appeals for a cease-fire to halt continuous airstrike bombardments target civilian areas, residential neighbourhoods, hospitals, places of worship, and educational institutions, Western leaders remain supportive of Israel’s genocide. Israel's obstruction of life-saving humanitarian aid to 2.3 million Gazans, half of whom are children, further compounds this dire situation. Moreover, Israel—supported and funded by the US government—has violated and continues to violate international laws with no accountability for their atrocious crimes.

Around the world, millions of individuals have united in solidarity with the Palestinian people. Tens of millions are actively raising awareness and dispelling the misinformation and lies propagated by mainstream media and the occupying forces. We extend a warm invitation to writers, poets, storytellers, and artists of all ages to join us in crafting this anthology, a powerful testament of support for the men, women and children of Palestine—especially for the children who bear the brunt of this ongoing genocide.

Words are a powerful tool used to shape our collective conscious. For too long the narrative has been used against Muslims, and words were used to dehumanize Palestinians. Words have hardened the hearts of many. This project is one of many trying to push back the detrimental damage caused by decades of media smear campaign against Muslims, Arabs and Palestinian. This project is an opportunity to share and support without censorship in hopes of contributing to a more empathetic and just world.
